Beware of Kryptonite!
“Look, up in the sky! It’s a bird! It’s a plane! It’s Superman!
Faster than a streak of lightning, more powerful than the pounding surf, mightier than a roaring hurricane. This amazing stranger from the planet Krypton, the man of steel, Superman.” ~ 1940’s Superman TV show intro
Superman was invincible. Almost. There was just one thing which could stop him – Kryptonite!
Your goals, supported with plans, followed through with actions have the power of achieving Super Results! But there is just one thing which can stop them from becoming reality – Negativity!
Negativity is skeptical, opposes change, refuses to believe in others, is unwilling to try anything new and worst of all, influences others and spreads.
So, what did Superman do with Kryptonite? He either stayed away from it or got rid of it!
Progress requires change. Negativity opposes change. Therefore, negativity opposes progress.
- If you struggle with negativity, be proactive in addressing the issues that could be contributing to it, because the impact on your own and others’ efforts can be crushing.
- If you have a colleague that is negative, try to be a source of encouragement. If however, it is affecting you more that you are influencing them, suggest that they should address their concerns with someone who can do something about it and stay away from them. They will pull you down as well as your hinder your progress.
- If you have a staff member or worse still a team that is negative, seek to understand if the cause of their negativity stems from within the workplace. Do what you can to help them change their attitude. If it is habitual and does not change, counsel them, quarantine them or replace them.
Sounds brutal? What is the cost of not changing? If you do not pay a small price early, get ready to pay a much bigger one later on.
Negativity is your Kryptonite. Stay away from it or get rid of it!
